When I first heard that 3 Girls Cupcakes, a mobile cupcakery, committed to giving a percentage of their sales/profits to local charities I admit I grinned from ear to ear. I went to their site and saw that they specifically mention focusing on children's charities.
As a co-founder of a children's literacy outreach charity, this made me smile even more. I knew right away I wanted to meet this small business owner. I thought there might be some kindred spirit; it just so happens my wife & I owned and operated a candle enterprise in the early part of the 21st century that pledged and gave a percentage of its sales to charities.
I had a 30 minute time frame for the interview; it was during one of the company's stops at a local organization's parking lot. Of course, there was a line of customers that kept me waiting for a very large chunk of the 30 minutes. That was fine with me. It is a great sign to see happy, interested customers. Once Simonie was able to serve all of her customers, she was kind enough to give me a few minutes of her time to share a bit about the 3 Girls Cupcakes story. Unfortunately, that happened to be the exact same time that sirens started going off in the background (timing is everything don't you know). But that didn't stop her from plowing through this little audio disturbance and sharing her Positive Cashflow story with me.
